KRAKOW FEST comes to Kraków on 7–10 May 2026, transforming the city into a meeting point of voices, cultures, and intimate theatrical encounters.
AGENDA, INFORMATION AND TICKETS
Rooted in the idea of theatre as a space of dialogue and presence, the festival brings together artists from across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, creating a unique platform where diverse perspectives coexist and resonate with one another .
This year’s edition, “Eros Awakened,” is inspired by Eros Bendato by Igor Mitoraj — a fragmented, bound figure of the god of love, permanently present on Kraków’s Main Market Square. In the festival’s visual language, Eros is not restored, but awakened: though still incomplete and constrained, he begins to see and to speak. This gesture becomes a central metaphor for the festival itself.
KRAKOW FEST understands theatre not as a force that resolves divisions, but as one that activates voice where there was silence and presence where perception was blocked. The programme is built on the idea of polyphony beyond divisions — a space where distinct artistic voices, rooted in different cultural, political, and personal contexts, meet without hierarchy.
At the heart of the festival lies monodrama — the most precise form of individual expression: one body, one voice, one perspective. Meaning emerges through the coexistence of many singular voices.
Across four days, audiences will experience a rich international programme of solo performances, including works from Poland, Spain, Romania, Turkey, South Korea, Palestine/Jordan/Switzerland, Bulgaria, the UK, and the USA . From reinterpretations of literary classics to bold contemporary narratives, each performance offers a distinct and personal voice.
The festival also features workshops led by internationally acclaimed artists, including sessions on transformation in acting, complex theatrical processes, body and space in performance, and memory work — creating opportunities for both artists and audiences to engage more deeply with the craft of theatre.
What awaits you:
- international monodrama competition and special performances,
- workshops and artistic encounters,
- opening and closing ceremonies,
- vibrant, multicultural exchange of ideas and experiences.
KRAKOW FEST is organised by KITE Theater and Krakowskie Forum Kultury, in partnership with Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury, under the patronage of Centrum Wielokulturowe w Krakowie and the honorary patronage of THESPIS International Monodrama Festival (Kiel, Germany), with the support of the City of Kraków.
